Tempted to buy an HDTV with PC input? Consider Vizio.

The joy of an HGTV with PC input! This is a great feature to have on your TV. If you don't, you are missing out! The Vizio VX32LHDTV10A is such an HDTV. Two things stand out for PC users:

  1. It has the RGB-PC input (VGA/SVGA) w/ audio connection to your PC's headphone jack
  2. split screen capability so you can watch TV and view computer content OR TV and some other home theater component like a DVD-recorder at the same time.

The TV has a remarkable PC image when connected to the laptop as you can see from the image. We have CNN.com and from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Two Towers. (If you are not familiar with connecting a PC to the TV, think of your place of employment when the corporate types connect their laptops to projectors for various presentations or a connection to a PC monitor). With this TV, you not only get the RGB-PC input, you get an audio-in jack.

I recommend you obtain a PC cable such as the MonoPrice Super VGA HD15 M/M 10ft CL2 Rated cable w/ Stereo Audio and Triple shielded (Gold Plated) for the PC to TV connection.

The split screen functionality is light years better than PIP. Just close your eyes and think of the TV viewing possibilities!

Here are a couple more photos of the split screen capability:
  1. Saving Grace on TNT and LOTR: Two Towers through a DVD-recorder.
  2. DirecTV's airing of "Night at the Museum" on FX and the DVDR player showing "LOTR: Two Towers."

There are other HDTV with split screen capability out there and the price range varies of course. The Vizio VX32LHDTV10A is a quality HDTV set at a good price. I know because there were excited screams on the other end of the phone when my sister purchased the TV (and she is the most budget conscious person I know...besides me). She got it at a great price after using a web software tool on top of the model year end pricing. With her savings, she was able to get her "g33k on" with some other electronic purchases.

If you were curious, Vizio did roll out the VO32LFHDTV10A and it is new for 2009. It is an upgrade over the VX32LHDTV10A so the concept is the same....PC input with audio and the addition of full HD.

So the next time you are in the market for a new TV in the "home office", consider an HDTV that will allow you:

  1. The RGB-PC input w/ audio connection to your PC's headphone jack
  2. Split screen capability so you can watch content at the same time in a similar sized window.
I want to read about your home theater component adventures with a PC connected to an HDTV or any other story, if you are willing to share. What are your dream home theater components? Why?

I spent some time this weekend dreaming. Dreaming about home theater components I would get if I could go online and order whatever I wanted. Let me clarify, ordering what I wanted online PLUS save money. OK, so I did A LOT of dreaming!! I was dreaming for a couple of reasons:
  1. Visualize the achievement of one of my goals
  2. Calm the mental storm of negative thoughts and stress.
As I was thinking about my dream home theater components, I jotted down several items but I will share the top four items from my current dream list which has high definition video, audio/video receiver, speakers, subwoofer, games systems, remote control, blu-ray dvd player, cd player (for the multi-disc play), and an Apple TV.

My Top Four:
  1. InFocus IN82 1080p DarkChip3 DLP Single-Chip Projector: There is something about having a 92" widescreen HD image of my movie collection.
  2. Denon AVR-3808CI 7.1-Channel Multizone Home Theater Receiver with Networking: I will be able to play differnt things in different parts of the house (It should go well with a Control4 product package)
  3. Wii Fun Bundle: Wii Console with Wii Fit and Nyko Charge Station: Talk about lifesize entertainment during Tiger Woods Golf or boxing with friends!
  4. Apple TV with 40GB Hard Drive: With my collection of mp3s anchored to my PC, Apple TV will free my music to my home theater and with the multizone receiver, music can go to my billiard room and my outdoor family room (allow me a moment to reflect...mmmm good). Any video format I purchased through iTunes (movies or TV shows) will also be available to me on my TV! Check out this image from Amazon!!

So I've share my current dream with you about home theater components if I could order them TODAY! I've shared that I would also save money. I want to read about your home theater component wants, if you are willing to share. Please provide feedback as I welcome what you think and how I can better serve you!!

Buy Blu ray! The Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player streams YouTube into your home theater!

Over the weekend, I was browsing through my local home electronic store looking for a device to stream my music without iTunes running until I was distracted by the Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player, Black. I have started to get the itch to buy a Blu-ray player and this particular one called to me. I will just need to share my vision of a 1080p home theater system and somehow compromise with my wife to buy Blu-ray. (A husband's top 5 goal is to strive for a peaceful home. Just some free advice to my married and soon to be married readers). I watched the demo for a few minutes then started looking at the connections and some of the literature. There were three things that stood out for the Panasonic Blu-ray DVD player:

1. I would be able to get as close to the movie theater experience in my home theater,
2. View Internet content such as YouTube or Amazon VOD through my home network, and
3. In a pinch, see or hear various content through the SD Memory card slot and USB port.

DVD players have come a long way from being able to play only DVD/CD to now being a part of your home computer network!

The whole point of purchasing home theater components is to create an environment that will bring you and I as close to the the movie theater experience in our own home. Whether your screen is 32" or 120", you want the image to remind you of the movie theater or be as close to that theater experience as possible even if the size is not there. I'm a fan of 720p as my current cable provider will do 720p/1080i but I do notice a difference on a 1080p monitor with 1080p content. When you buy a Blu-ray player, you will achieve that stunning image.

With routers and network connectivity within your home, you would want your home theater components to be connected, right? With the Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player, you can enjoy Internet content such as YouTube or Amazon VOD. You can see your very own YouTube video in glorious HD in your own home! You are now a movie star! Even if it is in your own home! :)

The third item that will be a joy to you and I is we can handle various content through the SD Memory card slot and USB port. Photos from your latest vacation with the family. Photos from a birthday party for a family member or loved one. Photos from a graduation. If they are on an SD memory card, the Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player has a slot for your camera card. In a pinch, you can even put music on a USB drive and play it through your player.

I want to hear what you think about the Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player. If you own the Panasonic Blu-ray DVD player, share your joys or dislikes. If you like something else, we want to hear it. If you have a story on where you can find deals online, we want to hear it!

Monster HDMI Cables Take em or Leave 'em

"I have to set a budget for the cables for my system!" Many of you have said this to yourself in one form or another as you started looking at Monster HDMI cables to connect your home theater components. The prices can be a little mind blowing for some of the Monster HDMI cables such as the Monster Cable M1000 4' HDTV HDMI A/V Cable - 1.22M or the Monster Ultra Series 800 HDMI Cable (8 ft.). This is in part because Monster HDMI cables are touted as the best but don't let the brand name be the only thing you consider. There is great competition besides Monster HDMI cables. Some at significant price breaks! I use to think Monster would be everything I would ever use but three things led to a shift in my thinking
  1. Cost
  2. Consumer reviews
  3. My own "scientific" tests
As many before me and after me will attest, Monster can be quite expensive unless you use the ultimate discount shopping software. Monster was the only company I knew about and that was my fault for not looking at other companies like Acoustic Research (which I stumbled across and now use for component video, subwoofer, and digital coax) and Audioquest. Due to needs, I had to locate a cost effective cable for my DVD player and receiver. With my software, I was able to locate a company called MonoPrice.com and have obtained most of my cables from them exclusively. I want to share something a little off-topic but I bought the PS2 component video cable so I could stop using the composite video to my HDTV and the picture quality of the games improved dramatically at a fraction of the cost of other cables for the PS2 system. See for yourself. Do a search on PS2 component video cables and compare the Monoprice to the others. I'm just here to share knowledge and help anyone that wants it.

The second thing I began to do was take the time to read more consumer reviews. Good, bad, or indifferent on various brands. It became necessary to avoid some of the pitfalls other have fallen into. In order to improve my home theater, it was important to seek out more knowledgeable people to make an educated and informed decision. One of the best decisions I could have made when I purchased the cable from Monoprice versus the Monster HDMI cables.

The third thing I did once I received my HDMI cables, along with my PS2 cable, I performed my own "scientific" test. I read the details/specs on what I purchased and the Monster HDMI cables. No big difference to me. I read the ratings of CL2 and 1.3a. Again, no difference to me. Weight and build quality to my untrained eye and hands, no differences. Matter of fact, one of the companies that came by to give me a quote on a high definition projector project I'm thinking about said I made a good choice. Now he could have been doing that to get me to go with their company but he had the cables in his hand and stated he was going to add them to his product list. Visually, the image on the TV and the sound was remarkable! In the end, that is what's important, right? That you have bought cable that meets your criteria to connect the appropriate home theater components and you are pleased with the end results.

So as you look at Monster HDMI cables or anything else out there at Amazon, MonoPrice, or another company, please keep in mind you can get quality cables at significant price breaks. Your savings could even lead to more electronic or DVD purchases and who doesn't want to purchase more. Remember cost, consumer reviews, and your own "scientific" test with the final analysis being a simple "It's all good!"

High Definition Projector In Your Home Theater

Over the past few months, high definition projectors for home theater has been a booming business. From the single person, married couples without kids, and families with kids, many have gone down the path of recreating the movie projector experience in the comfort of their own home. No more sticky floors, broken seats, or super super chatty customers.

Just you, your friends and family, your favorite foods bought at a fraction of the movie theater prices, your latest favorite movie (maybe Slumdog Millionaire [Blu-ray] or Sin City [Blu-ray]), your 5.1 surround sound system, and your high definition projector for your home theater. Imagine, you have just purchased Body of Lies (DVD or Blu-ray) and placed it into you Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player (a very nice player if I do say so myself. Sony has not let me down...so nice) which is connected to the Mitsubishi HC1600 720p DLP Home Theater Projector (ceiling mounted of course) as you are unveiling your new system for the first time. Then something magical happens...the most beautiful image on a 92" widescreen Draper or Da-Lite projector screen brings a small tear to your eye. Your friends are high fiving, roaring like your team won game 7 of the NBA Finals in the 5th OT on a 3-pt basket with 0.5 seconds on the clock.

You, my friend, are king of the world!

So as you go online to purchase your very own high definition projector, or any home theater components, for your home theater, take a peek at the Mitsubishi HC1600 720p DLP Home Theater Projector. Here is a review from Amazon about the Mitsubishi HC1600 720p DLP Home Theater Projector:

HC1600 is Awesome!!,
April 24, 2009
By M. Manuel

I had an older non-HD projector before this, and worked it to the bone... so when I switched to the HC1600, it was another world. It has to be the best bang-for-your-buck HD projector out there. It is very quiet, and the color is great, the 'low' lamp mode is slightly less bright, but will extend the life of your lamp by 50% or more; I use it in the 'low' mode. I have it connected to my computer and to my XBOX360 and it works beautifully.

I have never used a projector with higher specs, so I can't compare to anything 'better'. The keystone feature for both left-right and up-down movement is nice so that it does not have to be centered to the desired screen placement. Its bigger than an HDTV you would purchase for the same price, and easier to handle!! I would recommend this projector to anyone who wants to have a home theater in their house.

Very nice!! And if the Mitsubishi HC1600 720p DLP Home Theater Projector doesn't suit your fancy, another projector by Mitsubishi, the Mitsubishi HC5500 1080p LCD Home Theater Projector is a beauty! Your significant other will love how sleek and simplistic it looks in your home theater.

Before you go, I want to share that I have found Amazon will provide the best prices on the Internet. To give you an extra boost to your online savings, you have to get the My Shopping Genie as seen on CNN. This FREE download will work harder for you to locate the lowest and best prices on the Internet.

If you like what you have read, please leave your comments or feedback, and share with others.

Have a great movie experience on your new high definition projector in YOUR home theater!!

Until the next time when I will share another item from Home Theater Components.
